[31.15] The Nucleus and Starburst of NGC253: Multiwavelength Observations

B.J.Sams,R.Genzel,A.Eckart,L.Tacconi-Garman,R.Hofmann (MPE)

Multiwavelength infrared observations of NGC253 have revealed its true nucleus. The nucleus is not one of the famous IR-bright ``hot spots'', but is in fact a very dusty obscured region directly in the center of the brightness distrubution. In addition to surrounding the nucleus, the dust traces what appear to be spiral arms or a bar at very small scales.
