The gamma ray emission within $10^\circ$ of the galactic plane is generally dominated by diffuse emission resulting from cosmic ray interactions with the interstellar medium and with the optical, infrared, and black body photon fields. A model of the diffuse emission, when subtracted from the EGRET survey data, along the Galactic plane shows regions of excess whose spatial distributions are consistent with point source emission. A map of the residual emission and within $10^\circ$ of the plane for energies above 100 MeV, together with a preliminary listing of sources, their intensity, and their detection significance are presented.
