[43.04] The Bulge/Halo Interface

P. Harding (Steward Observatory), H. Morrison (NOAO)

The relationship between the bulge and halo is an important constraint on galaxy evolution models. To study this relationship, we have determined kinematics and abundances for a large sample of K giants in a field at $\sim$2 kpc from the galactic center. The very metal-poor stars show low rotation and high velocity dispersion, while the metal-richer stars have intermediate rotation, similar to other bulge tracers. The relationship of the field star kinematics to Zinn's (1992) work on inner halo globular cluster kinematics is discussed.
