[49.10] A ROSAT PSPC Observation of the Young Cluster IC 2391

B. M. Patten and T. Simon (Univ. of Hawaii/IfA)

We present preliminary results from a 22 ksec ROSAT PSPC observation of the young, southern cluster IC 2391. At the field center the 2$\sigma$ limiting $L_X$ is $5 \times 10\sp{28}$ ergs s$\sp{-1}$ increasing to $7 \times 10\sp{28}$ ergs s$\sp{-1}$ 40 arcminutes off-axis. There are 75 sources in this image with S/N $\geq$ 2.8. Of the ten new, low-mass cluster members reported by Stauffer et al. (1989), nine are detected in this integration. A comparison with the Hyades will be presented.
