Using (V,I) CCD imaging data centered on two Cepheid fields in the
nearby galaxy M81, as obtained by the Extragalactic Distance Scale Key
Project Team using the Hubble Space Telescope Wide-Field Camera, we
show the complex dust structure now evident in this galaxy. The
methodology being used by our Team in dealing with this extinction in
applying the Cepheid period-luminosity relation to determine true
distances will be outlined.
