[6.11] Design and Performance of a Parallel Particle-Mesh Code as a Solution to the N-body Problem

John F. Wallin (CSI/GMU), Imran Shah (CSI/GMU)

Particle-mesh calculations have been used as one method to solve the N-body problem in plasma and gravitational calculations. Because of the fixed grid shapes in these calculations, they are well suited for solutions using massively parallel computers. During the last year, we have been developing a parallel particle-mesh code to solve the gravitational N-body problem. The results from the initial performance and stablity tests of this code are presented along with the data and software structure used in its implementation.
