[110.05] The Old Open Cluster NGC 6791

K.M. Cudworth (Yerkes Obs./U. Chicago), B.J. Anthony-Twarog (U. Kansas)

Plates from four telescopes over a total epoch range of 22 years have been used to derive proper motions for over 700 stars in the region of the very old open cluster NGC 6791. Membership probabilities derived from these proper motions are used to produce a color-magnitude diagram of probable cluster members down to well below the main sequence turn-off. We confirm cluster membership for some blue straggler candidates, as well as for essentially all of the "yellow stragglers" discovered by Kinman above and redward of the turn-off. We are also investigating the differences among the published photometric studies of this cluster. This preliminary study concentrating on the central region of the cluster is being expanded to a larger area around the cluster and extended with a longer epoch difference to improve the proper motions.
