[17.14] Lithium Among K Dwarfs of the Hyades

D.R. Soderblom (STScI)

A search has been made for Li in some K dwarfs of the Hyades, using spectra obtained at the McMath-Pierce Telescope of NSO. The Li feature is very weak in these stars and is blended with many other lines, but the most significant aspect of these observations is that these stars do not differ from one another at the wavelength of the Li feature by more than 2 mA. This, together with an estimate of the expected strength of the Li feature in these stars, means that the K dwarfs of the Hyades do not exhibit the dramatic spread in Li abundances seen among stars of the same colors in the Pleiades.
