[30.05] Sub-Arcsecond JHK Imaging of the Seyfert~1 Galaxy NGC~7469

We have recently obtained $\sim$0.5$^{\prime\prime}$ resolution images in the Near-Infrared J-, H-, and K-Band of the Sy~1 Galaxy NGC~7469.\ \ These data, taken on the NTT of ESO on La~Silla with MPE's NIR speckle camera, {\sf SHARP}, reveal a complex ring of radius 1.3$^{\prime\prime}$ (420~pc at 66~Mpc) at a flux level $\sim$2\% that of the central source. The morphology of the ring, including several bright knots within the ring, are in good agreement with recent optical continuum, [OIII], and H$\alpha$ speckle imaging at similar resolution (Mauder et al. ~1993, A\& A\/ , in press), and with the 6~cm VLA measurements (Wilson et al. ~1991, Ap.J. , 381 , 79). We present a complete analysis of the ring in terms of a starburst phenomenon (Heckman {\em et al.}~1986, Ap.J. , 305 , 157; Wilson et al ~1991), as well as a comparison between this system and the Sy~2 NGC~1068.
