[81.03] [O\thinspace I] ($63\,\mu$m) Determined Mass-Loss Rates in Young Stellar Objects

Alexander L. Rudolph, Michael R. Haas, and Cecilia Ceccarelli (NASA/Ames Research Center)

We present a method for determining the instantaneous mass-loss rate from a forming star using observations of the fine-structure [O\thinspace I] ($63\,\mu$m) line (Hollenbach 1985), and compare it to the CO method for determining mass-loss rates. In addition we present observations of three young outflows, VLA 1623 and IRAS $16293-2422$, located in the $\rho$ Oph star-forming cloud, and L1448, located in the NGC 1333 star-forming cloud, and determine mass-loss rates for these three outflows.
