[83.08] The 3-D Interaction of Shocks with Interstellar Clouds

Jianjun Xu, James M. Stone (U. Maryland)

We are using a 3-D PPM hydrodynamic code to study the interaction between a strong shock and an interstellar cloud. The time evolution of clouds with different geometries is studied using different numerical resolutions. To investigate the mixing and fragmentation of the clouds, the time evolution of a number of total integrated properties of the clouds will be presented. Contact with recent observations of the Cygnus Loop will be made.
