[41.13] Effects of Fluid Turbulence on Stellar Convection

The nature of compressible fluid dynamic turbulence is studied via convergence tests in 2- and 3-dimensions with mesh resolutions ranging as high as $2048^2$ in 2-D and $1024^3$ in 3-D. The results of this study are related to turbulence in C.F.D. models of gravitationally stratified thermally driven convection in three dimensions.

Results are presented in terms of spectral analyses, tests of subgrid--scale models, and interactive volume visualization of complex fluid flows.
