[55.02] New Periods and/or Types for Variable Stars

We show differential light curves for several variable stars for which we have determined periods and/or a new variable type. Observations were made with a Photometrics Nubus CCD camera on the Wellesley College 24--inch Boller and Chivens telescope at the Whitin Observatory. Mira and suspected Mira variables for which the GCVS does not have a period listed include: LO Aur (490 days), AC Cep (440 days), HO Cyg (262 days), IR Cyg (172 days), V365 Cyg (420 days), BZ Dra (242 days), AX Her (300 days), ZZ Her (235 days), BX Lac (480 days), V413 Per (270 days), and KU Vul (308 days). The Mira VX UMa, has a period of 210 days listed in the GCVS; we show that the period is really about 410 days. We show a light curve for Z UMi, which the GCVS has classified as a Mira, and which is probably an RCB star and for IV Gem, which is classified as an RR Lyr star, and is probably a binary with a period of 0.603 days.
