Compton Observatory OSSE observations of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 7469 show hard X-ray emission at energies below 250 keV, with a steep spectrum compatible with an exponential cutoff of about 50 keV or a power law with a photon index steeper than --2, similar to that seen in other Seyfert galaxies. We present the OSSE data, in combination with other available X-ray data, and compare the time-averaged broadband X-ray spectrum to various proposed models for X-ray and gamma ray emission from AGN. Weak limits are obtained for the hard X-ray variability of NGC 7469 in the 4 weeks of OSSE observations during March--August 1994. These limits are compared to variability measured at other energies.
