[110.06] The doppler factor and orientation of 3C279

Wehrle, A.E. (IPAC/CalTech/JPL), Zook, A.C. (Pomona College), Unwin, S.C. (CalTech), Urry, C.M (STScI), Gilmore, D. (STScI)

We have used simultaneous VLBI and ROSAT observations of 3C279 to estimate the doppler factor and angle to the line of sight in the parsec-scale radio ject. The calculations are based on two inverse-Compton scattering models: a homogeneous sphere and an inhomogeneous Konigl jet. We compare our results to those of Unwin et. al. (1994) for another blazar, 3C345.
