[13.02] Implications of Non-thermal Motions for Statistics of Lyman-alpha Forest Clouds

We investigate the effects of non-thermal bulk motions within Ly$\alpha$ forest clouds on some observationally derived statistics of these clouds. We study the implications for the distribution functions in H~I column density ($N$) and velocity dispersion ($\sigma$) for the clouds. We also address the issue of correlations between $N$ and $\sigma$.
