[45.16] \bf The [Fe/H] Consistency of the Wolf 630 Moving Group

B.\ J.\ Taylor (BYU)

The Wolf 630 moving group has been tested for [Fe/H] consistency by compiling data from [Fe/H] catalogs which include accidental errors. Catalog entries are available for 40 group stars; these stars make up 26\% of the group members listed by Eggen in 1969. Three catalogs have been consulted (McWilliam 1990, ApJS, 74, 1075; Taylor 1991, ApJS, 76, 715; Taylor 1994, PASP, 106, 704).

\smallskip

An $F$ test shows that the group members are nonuniform in [Fe/H] at a confidence level exceeding 99.99\%. The intrinsic $\pm 2\sigma$ scatter in [Fe/H] for the group members is found to be about 0.66 dex. Inspection of the data suggests that where metallicity is concerned, there is little to distinguish the Wolf 630 group from a random selection of nearby stars.
