[53.05] Galactic Feedback and Cluster Evolution

C. A. Metzler and A. E. Evrard (U. of Michigan)

We report results from an ensemble of 3--D N--body + hydro simulations of the formation and evolution of rich clusters of galaxies, explicitly including cluster gas, galaxies, and dark matter as separate fluids. The galaxies are assumed to eject metal enriched, energetic gas into the intracluster medium through supernova--driven winds. Comparison with a companion ensemble without galaxies and winds allows us to determine the effect of feedback on the X--ray cluster luminosity function, the luminosity evolution of clusters, and the accuracy of X--ray binding mass estimates.
