[69.02] Remote Observing for the Small Observatory

A. Henden (U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff)

While most remote observing is performed using large telescopes sited thousands of km from the observer, there exists the need for more 'local' remote observing with smaller telescopes. For example, a small college observatory may be used by other schools in the same state for educational purposes. This paper will discuss how to do remote observing on a shoestring budget and the changes in hardware and software required.
