[77.10] Multi-Wavelength Observations of NGC 5775 and NGC 3044

Siow-Wang Lee, Judith Irwin (Queen's University)

We present preliminary results of CO observations for the edge-on galaxies NGC 5775 and NGC 3044 as well as HI results for NGC 3044. These two galaxies are amongst the few spirals that exhibit obvious HI arcs and extensions away from their planes. Combined with previously obtained HI data for NGC 5775 as well as radio continuum and IR data for both galaxies, we will place constraints on the physical conditions in the interstellar medium in these galaxies (e.g. the average supernova rate and mean ISM density). These values will allow us to investigate models, such as the Chimney Model, which attempt to explain high latitude features in these galaxies.
