[80.16] The Solar-Stellar Spectrograph: The Sun in 1994

G. W. Lockwood, Jeffrey C. Hall (Lowell Observatory), Erika L. Gibb (Northern AZ Univ)

We present Ca II HK and IRT and H$\alpha$ observations of the end of solar cycle 22 in 1994. We discuss the calibration of these activity diagnostics to flux and compare the results with similarly determined fluxes from stellar analogs of the Sun. We reconcile these data with the long-term NSO datasets and with the Mt.\ Wilson $S$ index of stellar activity, establishing a spectroscopic context for accurate placement of the Sun among the stars.
