[4.04] Variability in EUVE Second Catalog Sources

J. Lewis, M. Lampton, X. Wu, S. Bowyer (CEA/UCB)

During the initial six month all-sky survey phase of the Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer\/ mission, sources were observed at approximately 90 minute (one orbit) intervals for 10-20 seconds at a time. The survey strategy resulted in individual sources being observed in dozens to thousands of orbits, depending on the ecliptic latitude of the source.

We have analyzed 372 sources from the second EUVE\/ catalog of detections, on an orbit-by-orbit basis, to search for variability in each of the four all-sky survey bandpasses on a time scale of hours to days.

This poster describes the details of the variability testing process, the criteria used to classify sources as variable or constant, and the types of sources found to be variable. This work is supported by NASA contract NAS5-30180.
