[8.08] The Discovery of Cepheids in the Galaxy NGC 7793

J. H. Catanzarite (Cypress College), I. K. Horowitz (Idaho State U.), W. L. Freedman (OCIW), B. F. Madore (NASA/IPAC/JPL)

We report on the discovery of Cepheid variable stars in the Sculptor Group galaxy NGC 7793. BVRI CCD observations were obtained between 1984 and 1992 at CTIO and LCO. Multiwavelength light curves and period-luminosity relations for the Cepheids will be presented, as well as color-magnitude diagrams for NGC 7793 showing the positions of the Cepheids in the instability strip.
