Session 33 - Neutron Stars & White Dwarfs.
Oral session, Monday, January 15
Salon del Rey South, Hilton
A search was conducted in the Einstein database for nearby old isolated neutron stars accreting from the interstellar medium and emitting with a thermal black body spectrum of kT\sim .1 keV or less. Findings are presented for 30 candidates of which two are also firm ROSAT detections. For these, blackbody temperatures are determined in the expected range. Their fitted neutral column densities, establish the plausibility of their being within \sim 100 pc of the sun.
