[39.08] Hubble Space Telescope Stability Assessment

A. Bradley (Allied Signal Aerospace Co., Guidance and Control Systems), R. Chapman (Allied Signal Technical Services Co.), J. Spuria (Lockheed-Martin Aerospace)

The second Hubble Space Telescope shuttle servicing mission is scheduled for February, 1997. This paper will address two important topics: First, the control system hardware that is presently scheduled for replacement will be discussed. The impact that the new hardware will have on the pointing stability will be examined. (2) Second, a two year study examining the origin of stability errors in the 1.0 to 15.0 milliarcsec range has recently concluded. The results of the study will be presented, along with the present status of the spacecraft pointing stability.
