[45.05] Anisotropic Turbulence in the Interstellar Medium Towards W49N

K. M. Desai (NRL), C. R. Gwinn (UCSB), P. J. Diamond (NRAO)

Interstellar turbulence produces fluctations of electron density over more than seven decades of spatial scales in the interstellar medium. Diffraction of radio-waves around these density fluctuations causes an increase in the observed angular sizes of compact radio sources. Measurements of this angular broadening can, in principle, completely characterize interstellar turbulence on all spatial scales. We present here measurements of parameters of the anisotropic turbulence seen towards W49N.
