[47.08] Learning about Binaries and Planets Through Microlensing

S. Mao (MPIfA), R. Di Stefano (Harvard U.)

We detail recent work on extracting the parameters of binary-lens events through analysis of the light curves. We will focus on our recent work with wide-binary systems. These are systems in which the separation between the components of the lens is greater than an Einstein radius, R_E, with typical separations on the order of a few times R_E. We find that that methods for searching for evidence of wide systems are promising, especially for planetary systems. Further, they complement those which are more effective for ``resonant" systems, in which the separation is comparable to R_E.
