Session 50 - Active Galaxies.
Display session, Tuesday, January 16
North Banquet Hall, Convention Center
Very Long Baseline Array images are presented of the inner arcsecond of the radio jet in the nearby radio galaxy, Virgo A (3C274), at wavelengths of \lambda\lambda92,50\,cm. A continuous radio jet with multiple components is seen out to some 0.5 arcseconds from the core. Knot D, at \sim3 arcseconds from the core is also detected in the longer wavelength image. Spectral information for the core and the VLBI-scale knots are derived and the implications for X-ray emission are examined.
