Session 54 - Large Scale Structure.
Display session, Tuesday, January 16
North Banquet Hall, Convention Center
We have determined the position angle and ellipticity for seventeen clusters of galaxies that lie within superclusters using the ROSAT PSPC data. The observed position angles are then used to search for an alignment of cluster x-ray morphologies within superclusters. We find that the x-ray morphologies of individual clusters are aligned with the large scale orientation of superclusters at a statistically significant level, but are not significantly aligned with just the nearest-neighboring cluster. This result supports cosmological models with significant power on large scales.
