Session 94 - Large-Scale Structure: Observations and Theory.
Oral session, Wednesday, January 17
Corte Real, Hilton
We study the evolution of magnetic fields created in the early universe up to the present. We show that magnetic fields do not evolve by a simple redshift of magnetic energy. In particular, neutrino decoupling and recombination strongly damp the power of magnetic fields up to mass scales around the Silk mass. We discuss how this damping affects the nature of cosmological magnetic fields that may be present today and how observations of extragalactic fields may probe processes occuring in the early universe.
