Session 111 - X-Ray Observations of Clusters of Galaxies.
Display session, Thursday, January 18
North Banquet Hall, Convention Center
Spectra covering 0.5-10 keV from the Broad Band X-ray Telescope (BBXRT) are presented. BBXRT data have coarse spatial resolution, but the cooling flow in A496 is detected, with a cooling mass of approximately 7x10^13 solar masses within the inner 0.3 Mpc. That value is within a few percent of the value measured with ASCA data. An unresolved iron line of equivalent width 600 eV is detected. The cluster redshift, measured assuming that the 6.5 keV emission comes from Fe XXV, matches the optical redshift. The A496 data are generally consistent with constant abundance and column density. The A262 data were obtained at a large off-axis angle. The data are consistent with no cooling flow. An upper limit of 1 keV is assigned to the presence of an iron line.
