Session 9 - Dwarf Galaxies.
Display session, Monday, June 10
Great Hall,
The puzzling nature of the old stellar content of the Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies is investigated using optical--near infrared two-dimensional color mapping. The aim of this method is to distinguish between the young red supergiants (from the starburst region) and the old red giants (from the underlying galaxy) that contribute to the near infrared emission of the BCDGs.
We present the B, R, J, H and K surface photometry of a small sample of BCDGs and the results of our investigations.
