[12.06] Connections Between Fundamental Particles, Redshifts and Cosmology

W. G. Tifft (Steward Obs., U. Arizona)

There is now considerable evidence that the cosmic redshift is quantized (periodic) for many classes of galaxies when referred to the cosmic background radiation rest frame. Possible periods are given by the speed of light times the series of negative ninth roots of 2 (ApJ Sept. 10, 1995 in press). A related series of energies, scaled from the Planck energy, appears to match the rest mass energies of the common fundamental particles. Both of these results are derived from concepts involving time as a 3 dimensional quantity. Models of 3-d time permit the development of an alternative cosmology which incorporates redshift quantization, discordant redshifts, and other classical anomalies.
