Session 65 - New Views of the Magellanic Clouds - II.
Oral session, Wednesday, June 12
Historical Society,
Recent ground-based and HST UV high resolution spectra have been used to study the physical conditions of a superbubble (LMC2) in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The gas is detected in absorption against the continuum of 7 OB LMC supergiants in the direction of LMC2. The multi-phase ISM (cold, warm and hot gas) between the Galaxy and LMC2 is identified by several ions tracing the gas at different temperatures and densities. The dynamics, abundances, depletions of elements on dust grains, and diagnostics on shocks are discussed for this Superbubble.
