We present an analysis of the local (< 20 kpc) environment for a sample of R-band CCD images of 35 Seyfert galaxies. These data constitute a subset of a survey of the large-scale environments of Seyfert galaxies and a control sample of 55 ``normal'' galaxies. Both samples were selected from the CfA catalog, and were matched in redshift, luminosity and morphological class.
Analysis of the properties of the Seyfert host galaxies in terms of surface brightness characteristics, close companions and other signs of recent interactions are provided.
