We report the first observations of Cepheid variable stars in the Virgo galaxy NGC 4548 which have been made with the Hubble Space Telescope as part of the Extragalactic Distance Scale Key Project. We presently have identified 28 probable Cepheids in our analysis of frames from 12 visits spread over a period of 60 days between April and June 1996. DoPHOT and DAOPHOT/ALLFRAME photometry has been carried out. Light curves and preliminary PL relations will be presented.
