Session 96 - Cepheids and Supergiant Variable Stars.
Display session, Thursday, January 16
Metropolitan Ballroom,
The MACHO data archive contains many thousands of periodic variable stars with very dense phase coverage acquired over four years of \simnightly observations. We analyze each lightcurve to determine a phase delay time series and identify long term phase delay structure. A number of astrophysical processes, including orbital displacement and period evolution, can produce phase delay signals. We present here an outline of this technique and a number of interesting results found in the set of LMC Cepheid stars.
