[118.05] The Parsec-scale Jet and Counterjet in Cygnus A

We will present results of our dual-frequency-synthesis VLBA observations of the nuclear region in Cygnus A at several radio frequencies. Our image at \sim 5 GHz with a dynamic range of \sim 1000 shows a clear evidence of the parsec-scale counterjet. Components in the jet are visible up to \sim 40 mas and the components in the counterjet up to \sim 20 mas. We will compare this image with others from VLBI observations at different frequencies and epochs and discuss our results in light of the twin relativistic jet model and the unification scheme for radio galaxies and quasars.
