[3.01] The Concentration-Density Relation of Galaxies in Las Campanas Redshift Survey

Y. Hashimoto (Yale U.), A. Oemler Jr. (Carnegie Obs.)

The morphology-density relation is evaluated, using 10536 galaxies taken from the Las Campanas Redshift Survey, the largest redshift survey to date, and using an automated quantitative measure of galactic structure based on the radial profile to define morphological type. We show our new evaluation of the morphology-density relation using a largest data set,and a morphological characterization which is more robust against the image degradation and the star formation properties of galaxies than the conventional Hubble classification.
