[21.07] The Time is Ripe!

The budgetary dilemma facing the national observatories is briefly touched upon. The question of whether there is an answer to "How am I supposed to work my 15th magnitude subjects without a telescope or, worse, without even access to data?" is on the minds of not just a few students and their advisors. The science that gets done on a big telescope is the same as that which gets done on a small telescope -- it's just as important but it's different. As a professional amateur, I will outline what can be done to help in this time of small-telescope science demise at the national observatories and describe new possibilities in what can become a new era in amateur-professional collaboration.

A brief description of past Braeside Observatory efforts and its current collaborative work will be presented.
