Session 30 - Amateurs & Professionals: Collaborators in the New Age of Electronic Astronomy.
Display session, Tuesday, June 10
South Main Hall,
GNAT is a new non-profit organization whose goals are to develop a global network of small telescopes and to be a catalyst for all those interested in the effective use of such telescopes for research and for education. Such a telescope network could and would make a major impact on research and education worldwide. The value per cost ratio would be very high. GNAT now has in operation a 0.5m telescope, and has hosted a number of meetings on the issues. There are now about 50 formal members (organizations as well as amateur and professional astronomers) and a web site (www.gnat.org) that will be growing greatly in quality and quantity in the next months. We welcome and need your advice and involvement.
