[31.03] Photometric Investigation of the Total Eclipsing, Very Short Period, Active W UMa System, V743 Sagittarii

V743 Sagittarii was discovered by Swope (1940). There has only been two other observations of the system by Plaut (1958), and Samec and DeWitt (1989). BVRI observations ( 350 in each band) are reported here. These data were taken on May 13 to 20, 1991 with the 1.0 m Yale Reflector Telescope at Cerro Tololo InterAmerican Observatory in conjunction with a Ga-As PMT. Four precision epochs of minimum light were determined from the observations made during primary, 2448392.7142 , and 2448393.8205 (4) and secondary eclipses,2448392.8550 (8) and 2448393.6849 (6). Our transformations and de-reddening yielded a K0 spectral type for the Variable star. A period study was conducted, and the linear ephemeris, J.D. Hel Min I = 2447656.8629(24)d + 0.27663581 (6)E was calculated. Our simultaneous Wilson code solution gave a component temperature difference of 354K, a mass ratio of 0.314 and a fill-out of 11roving spot activity as shown by a comparison with our 1989 curves.
