[35.04] Multiple Globular Cluster Populations in Giant Ellipticals

D. Geisler (NOAO/KPNO), M. G. Lee (Seoul Nat'l. Un., Korea)

Evidence for the presence of more than a single unique population of old globular clusters in individual giant elliptical galaxies is mounting. Both ground-based and HST broad-band imaging studies are uncovering bi- or multi-modal color distributions in many gEs. We will present new data on the globular cluster systems of NGC 4696 in Centaurus and of NGC 4406 in Virgo, and summarize the present observational status of multiple old globular cluster populations in gEs.
