[38.08] Cosmological Parameters from Multiple-arc Gravitational Lens Systems

R. Link, M. J. Pierce (Indiana U.)

We continue our investigation into the extraction of cosmological parameters from gravitational lens systems with multiple giant arcs. Our analytic treatment of axisymmetric systems is improved; results of inversions using simulated data are presented, and preliminary results of a monte carlo investigation of confidence limits on the parameters so obtained are presented.

On the basis of our analytic calculation we conclude that the resolution typical of HST images of gravitational lens systems should allow a marginal detection of cosmological parameters. Results of lens inversion calculations support this conclusion for several cases studied.
