South Main Hall,
We present observations of the Galactic plane made with the two ultraviolet imagers and five spectroscopic imagers aboard the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) satellite. The imagers obtained maps of the Galactic plane two wavelength bands - from 1420 to 1670 Å\ ; and 1990 to 2670 Å\ - with a spatial resolution on the order of 0.1 degrees. We also obtained simultaneous spectroscopic coverage between 1250 and 9000 Å\ with the five spectroscopic imagers (SPIMs). These are the first ultraviolet images of the entire Galactic plane. Both point sources and the diffuse background are visible in these images.
