Session 2 - Everything Else.
Display session, Friday, June 27
Ballroom C, Chair: Richard Canfield
A three-dimensional numerical model for the simulation of solar wind problems based on the modified TVD-LF numerical scheme is introduced. The solution of corotating flows obtained by the steady-state numerical model is used to verify results obtained by numerical relaxation. A tilted-dipole configuration of the plasma outflow is specified at the inner boundary and large-scale structures are investigated up to 5 AU. Formation of a shock-pair structure is shown together with distortion of the heliospheric sheet. Time-dependent variation of plasma parameters at the inner boundary is applied to generate transient structures. Their propagation and interaction with the steady-state solar wind flow is followed.
