[4.16] The Value of a REU Experience: The Results of the First Wyoming Survey.

R. Canterna (U. Wyoming), K. Beck (Stanford U.), M. A. Hickman (Swarthmore C.)

A survey of eighty-two former participants of the Wyoming Summer Undergraduate Research Assistantship Program (SURAP), a REU site for the past ten years, was recently completed to evaluate the value and effect this expereince had on the undergraduate student. Our findings show the REU expereince is exceedingly positive and contributes immensely to the future decisions of the students in their pursuit of an astronomy or scientific career. A summary of the SURAP results will be presented.
