Session 17 - Data Archives & Tools.
Display session, Wednesday, January 07
Exhibit Hall,
The Astrophysics Data Facility (ADF), in association with the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) archives and distributes UV and Optical Astronomical datasets of interest to NASA-supported researchers. These include: IUE [IUESIPS and Final Archive]; public HUT, UIT and WUPPE data from the Astro missions; ORFEUS-SPAS EUVS; OGLE; and Copernicus data. We have developed several new user interfaces to access this data which feature: Science based queries; Quick-look Browsers; Archival data selection and ordering tools; and data delivery tools. Our main user interface is the Web Interface for Searching Archival Research Data (WISARD), which is a multi-wavelength (X-ray, UltraViolet, Optical and Infrared), multi-mission interface to various astrophysics data archives. WISARD can search for and retrieve data located at different archive sites in a single session. WISARD uses the SIMBAD, NED, and ADS archives for astronomical object and bibliographic information (in addition to the SIMBAD and NED name-to-coordinate conversion service). WISARD also uses the STSCI DADS, HEASARC, EUVE Public Archive and NDADS archives for science data access. WISARD supports both on-line (IUE, WUPPE and UIT) and external data browsers (HST/GHRS). In addition, selected on-line browsers (IUE, HUT, WUPPE, and UIT) are available through interfaces separate from WISARD and browse data for IUE and HUT can be down-loaded directly from their respective browsers.
