Session 18 - STIS.
Display session, Wednesday, January 07
Exhibit Hall,
STIS provides the capability for high time resolution spectroscopy and imaging in the UV through the use of "TIMETAG" mode. In this mode the MAMA detectors produce an event stream of detector coordinates and time with a time resolution of 125 microseconds. STIS TIMETAG data are stored in FITS files with binary table extensions and make use of the ability to store arrays of data in a single table cell (the so-called "3-d" table). We describe the processing of TIMETAG mode data by the ground system at STScI as well as the additional software available within STSDAS for post-pipeline processing
