[21.11] The Distribution of Molecular Gas in the Starburst Galaxy NGC 253

T. A. D. Paglione, O. Yam (INAOE), T. Tosaki (Gunma Astron. Obs.), J. M. Jackson (Boston Univ.)

We present 5.''2 x 2.''6 resolution interferometry of CO J=1-0 emission from the starburst galaxy NGC 253. Our goal is to determine the structure and kinematics of the molecular gas traced by CO emission, and to estimate the masses of the clumps in the molecular bar. We also compare these images with HCN J=1-0 and CS J=2-1 observations to determine the physical properties of the clouds in the starburst nucleus.
